As we left off in the previous chapter, Mother Village, a seemingly idyllic utopia, had begun to reveal its darker underbelly. The inhabitants, once so welcoming and friendly, had started to exhibit strange and sinister behavior. The air was thick with an almost palpable sense of unease, and the trees seemed to loom over the village like sentinels, guarding secrets that were better left unspoken.
