In 2003, Hinder self-released their debut EP, , which circulated locally and helped build a loyal fan base. Their big break came in 2004 when they signed with Universal Records. Under the guidance of renowned producer, Brian Howarth, Hinder entered the studio to record their debut album.
The band's major-label debut, , dropped on July 12, 2005. This album marked the beginning of Hinder's successful run, featuring hits like "Get Stoned," "Lips of an Angel," and "Better Than Me." The album peaked at number 6 on the US Billboard 200 chart and achieved platinum certification from the RIAA.
In 2014, Hinder released , a compilation album featuring their most popular songs, as well as two new tracks. This release marked a reunion for the band, with Winkler, Garvey, Rodden, King, and Hanson reuniting to promote the album.
