Chalte Chalte was the final film produced under Dreamz Unlimited before it was rebranded as Red Chillies Entertainment .

The story follows Raj Mathur (Shah Rukh Khan), a carefree, self-made owner of a small trucking company, and Priya Chopra (Rani Mukerji), a sophisticated fashion designer from an affluent Greek-Indian family. Their journey begins with a chance car accident and a persistent courtship that takes them from India to Greece, where Raj eventually wins Priya over despite her engagement to a childhood friend, Sameer.

Originally, Aishwarya Rai was cast as Priya but was replaced by Rani Mukerji following disruptions during filming. Mukerji's performance, featuring a tanned, smoky-eyed look designed by Mickey Contractor, received high praise and became an iconic style for the actress.

The soundtrack , a major factor in the film's success, was composed by the duo Jatin–Lalit and Aadesh Shrivastava with lyrics by Javed Akhtar.
