This is a contemporary thriller, not a period piece. A high-caste Brahmin woman, Ira (a modern corporate lawyer), returns to her ancestral agrahara (Brahmin quarter) in Kerala to claim her inheritance. The central conflict: her uncle invokes a 1922 Brahmanical trust deed that states "a woman ceases to be a Brahmin upon marriage to a non-Brahmin."
